Over a year ago, I ordered Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's pressing of Dire Strait's eponymous first album. When I received it and played it for the first time, I was extremely disappointed to hear very excessive surface noise. I cleaned the vinyl, and then used a Zerostat Antistatic Gun on it. Still had the surface noise. I tried doing the same again to no avail - so I went to return the album for a replacement, but they were sold out - so I gritted my teeth and kept the album.
Fast forward to this year, when I read a review on an audiophile site about this Thunderon Conductive Record Brush. I ordered one and have been using it with great success on both new, as well as vintage, vinyl. Then I remembered my Mofi Dire Straits album.
After using this conductive record brush on that vinyl, I was ASTONISHED to hear that the surface noise was gone! So, despite the expense, I highly recommended this brush - it is well worth the cost!
